Part of my high school AP Studio Art portfolio. This piece represents the loneliness and silence that we as a nation experienced during the lockdown from COVID-19. I chose the Statue of Liberty as the subject since she is a symbol of America and left her mouth out of the drawing to emphasize the idea of being silent. A drawing from my high school AP Studio Art class. COVID-19 was the biggest issue during 2020 so I decided to create a piece based on it. The iris is a COVID-19 virus and the American flag is in the pupil waving in the distance. This composition symbolizes that no matter how big of a problem COVID-19 may seem to be, we are still all Americans and together, we can overcome it. Completed in colored pencil.

I chose the bumblebee as a subject to draw because scientifically, bumblebees shouldn't be able to fly but they can anyway which gives the bumblebee freedom that it wouldn't normally have. Completed in Prismacolor pastel.
